Skyview Drags in Tioga Center honored SSG William R “Billy” Wilson III during its annual Memorial Day race on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
Kathy Kiekel, Binghamton, NY is the Track Event Promoter and a Super Pro Drag Racer at Skyview Drags. She & Wilson’s father, Bill grew up together in Amherst, NY. When Kiekel learned of the Wilson family’s devastating loss of their oldest son in 2012, she started working on plans for the memorial service to honor the memory of this American Hero.
The Wilson family attended the memorial service which was held at the starting line of the track. Skyview’s drag racers who served in the military assisted in the service and presented an American Flag to the Wilson family as a token of appreciation and thanks for Billy’s service.
